Supporting and celebrating educators and their work

I am a Senior Lecturer (Curriculum and Pedagogy) at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ). I was a classroom teacher for over 25 years in Australia during which time I also held teaching and learning leadership positions. I went on to work at the state level and had the privilege of working with teachers at all career stages to build professional capabilities through large-scale professional learning and teacher research programs and projects.  I now work with preservice teachers during their initial teacher education to prepare them as high-quality educators in the teaching profession.

Among other things, I am currently on the executive of the Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE), co-convene the AARE Teachers’ Work and Lives Special Interest Group and lead the Teacher Education Early Career Researcher Advocacy and Action group (TEECRAA) at UniSQ which supports early career researchers working in education.

I am committed to working with educators across school contexts and higher education to support their professional growth and their lives in the profession. Education is a complex and demanding pursuit, and it is my belief that we must both support and celebrate educators as they commence and progress through their careers.  Through my work as a teacher and researcher, I assist educators to thrive in their professional work and lives with a focus on professional learning, mentoring, and well-being.
